Saudi: no cash from emerging economies until given more clout

Big emerging economies such as China, India and Saudi Arabia will not aid the West in its financial crisis unless they are given more influence in running the global economy, a senior figure from Saudi Arabia's ruling establishment said on Monday.

The International Monetary Fund is seeking to more than double its war chest by raising $600 billion in new resources to help countries deal with the fallout of the euro zone's sovereign debt crisis.

"What we can be certain of is that large developing nations will not agree to provide additional funds without a greater say in the IMF, and this applies to all global economic governance organizations," Prince Turki said.

I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love,
For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.

sorry, but even if this is what TPTB are *trying* to do, i don't see any way for them to actually pull it off. resource scarcity is finite and you can't fiat your way out of that cul-de-sac. besides, india and china have half the world's population, and while they might be ripe for continued labor exploitation, they already have brewing/spewing social and economic issues of enormous size.

yeah - for the reasons you state - it will likely fail.

i wholeheartedly agree that they will do their damnedest to try, and wouldn't be shocked if, when faced with failure and having to fade into the night like we peons, they opted for total annihilation.

IMO: India, China and the rest of us will starve our way into the future.
(They actually have experience in that arena.)

Total annihilation? That's really hard to do.

SCARY bottleneck? That's practically guaranteed.

When and if it all gets level . . . I would expect everyone would be a few hundred feet under water.

There is no gravity. The World sucks. ;)

Shorthand version is that "the Great Globalization" is having a "Died of a Theory" experience.
