The Feminine Side of Doom

Thanks to Templar, Pamela, Allissun, and Gnomore for allowing this new thread, which will serve as a discussion platform for the women in our community to discuss issues concerning doom/collapse not present elsewhere. I thought it would be a good idea to bring in such a thread similar to the one at LATOC, so here we go!

Some of this might be a repeat of the old LATOC, but I wanted a place here at ToA to welcome new ladies who might not be familiar with the old forum. So once again, thanks guys!

Ladies, for this thread..."The Feminine Side of Doom," what issues or challenges do you see with regard to preparing for collapse? Too often I notice the trend of prepping from the male side, the "Beans, Bullets, and Bunkers," but wanted to know your perspective on building community, fostering hope, gardening, etc, and just being a pillar of strength for your families in times of need, as women have been throughout the ages.

Re: The Feminine Side of Doom

ok, just going to put my post in here, it fits better! LOL

Welcome to the Ladies' Room!
well, we have a spot now where the women of this forum can come and discuss issues of importance to them as they negotiate the coming hard times.
We can talk about our relationships here, and discuss issues concerning health and emotional problems that are particular to women or things from a female perspective.
We can post all kinds of things here from recipes and discussions on skills to concerns about women's rights and the possibility that the coming times will be especially hard for women and children.
Women are the keepers and holders of all that prevents us from returning to caves. We make homes and keep hearths and care for the sick and for children.
I'm so happy that we have this spot now and we can come here and talk and plan for the future.

I think Alli will agree that this section of the forum should especially be a no fighting zone, let's try and keep are discussions civil, (i have no doubt that we will) and bring some civilized discussion to our community here.

Very well said Pam! Could not agree more. The coming times will be especially difficult, and women will have just as important of a role as men. While the heavy lifting and more dangerous tasks will be given mostly to men, women will be holding down the forts at home and keeping families, and to a larger extent, communities, together. Sure there will be some women who choose to fight alongside the men, defending the communities, but most of us will be doing the more important task of rebuilding some kind of society on a personal, micro level.

Agreed!! I would like to see this section of the forum become a place where we can foster hope and calm for the coming storms, from a woman's perspective, so any fights will not be tolerated, 'less you want to feel the wrath of a woman scorned.

Re: The Feminine Side of Doom

Nice forum, ladies. I don't see

Bitch About the Guys

on anyone's list!! :) Just kidding, of course. But if anyone is ever feeling like they'd prefer only ladies to read their post ... just start the conversation talking about "that time of the month" and then proceed ... no males will still be present, I promise!! :)

LOL you got that right VaMom!
i think guys could post in here too provided they are respectful and don't see this as a hunting ground of some sort.
I don't think our guys here would do that but sometimes...there be trolls.

The main thing I worry about in terms of TSHTF is my gorgeous 19 year old daughter living at college 150 miles away. She won't stand a chance
