Ok, I am reading that recipe and my mouth started watering! LOL
I wish i was your neighbor, I'd be right over!

you know, that's like my grandmother used to cook. She just put things together and presto, deliciousness!
She was German and boy could she cook! Made the best chicken and dumpling I have ever eaten. No matter how I've tried I have never been able to reproduce it.
Thanks for posting that Aussie, my pear trees are full and ripe and i think that might make a good recipe and I could substitute pears for the apples don't you?
Here's my art blog that I'm trying to update.

I sometimes use other fruit. Apricots are particularly good. Of course I leave off the cinnamon for apricots. Pears tend to be a little bland on their own. Pears and blueberries are good. Or otherwise serve the pear cake with a nice topping of thick custard. Pears and custard - extra yummy.
