security

Hi. I finally talked to my good buddy.

He raised my young-bull. And he shot him in the forehead, for me.

my friend ex-vn, the sniper. Fucked up shit. Will haunt him util he is dead.

And now I want to learn from him.

That, too, is haunting lessons.

I will love and embrace the lessons, and try my best to be serene and good.

i just talked to him for an hour or so on the phone, american.
I asked him for some help.

He agreed and he is going to teach me how to be a sniper.

Wow, glad you were able to make that decision for yourself Alli. Good luck! Tell us how it works out. :)

Re: security

It's totally wild idea for me. It can't hurt to learn this skill. Well, it could hurt, I guess that's the point.

Thanks Earth_Girl

Re: security

You're welcome my dear. I am still sitting on the fence about firearms.

I like knives though.  :D

Re: security

I love knives! But really just for cooking. :P

I figure the lessons from my friend will definitely give me a skill, but it will also build some stronger community ties. I am sure we will have some good discussions and, well, hahhaa just shoot the shit.

(couldn't help myself hahaa... i feel like beavis and butthead now  )

Re: security

I know a guy who served as a military sniper for quite a few years. You know he's good when they're begging him to come back when he's in his 40's for the latest war. He showed us some of his gear and talked about it a little. There's a whole lot more to it than just shooting straight. The whole bushcraft/stealth thing is a much bigger portion of the knowledge/skill than the shooting.

Good luck, Allisun, I hear women are better shots than men generally.

Re: security

Thanks Earth_Girl and Hutoftung.

My buddy just approached me this week, which kind of made me happy, and asked me if and when i wanted some lessons. I said yes, and we discussed when. Probably won't happen, as I am so darn busy, for at least 5 years from now. I have projects up the yin-yang. But I am sure hoping he'll be around when all my work is finished and godzilla hasn't yet consumed us.

Rules are kind of different in Canada, so learning how to be a sniper is kind of not a cool hobby. Oh well.

:D

all in good time

Re: security

i don't break the law.

Good folks say that and try to live by it. And sometimes the law of nature overwhelms the laws of humankind.

We are facing an unprecendented stress on civilization that is likely to crush our laws.

Where I live, 250 years ago, the native population braced themselves each year (each spring) for the predation of the Mohawk (and other members of the Iroquois League). They literally went from New York out to Illinois to take what they wanted/needed by force.

There may come a time when there is no sheriff or police other than you. Civilization is a thin veneer.
Be as careful as you can.
