Posting Guidelines...

. This is a forum dealing with Peak Oil, the effects of the resultant resource decline on the economy and modern civilization, and making preparations for life after the oil crash. We try to maintain good humor, but this is a topic for adults. The discontinuity will impact all aspects of society, so there are no taboo subjects for thoughtful discussion. We're not big on political correctness, but there are limits to our patience when it comes to hateful asshattery. If that's what you're into, look elsewhere.
. This is a discussion forum, which means people are allowed to express contrary opinions. Doing so does not make a poster a troll unless they are repetitive and interfering with the dialog of others. If your sensibilities are so fragile as to be painfully offended by the odd forum posting, Peak Oil and its ramifications might just be too much for you to begin with. If you don't like someone's attitude or opinions, argue with them or ignore 'em. Keep in mind that some members might feel the same way about your posts. If we censor everything that might make some readers uncomfortable, we're going to have nothing but a couple of threads on canning zucchini. (Until the fire-haters and anti-agriculture folks show up and we have to nuke those as well!)
. Because this forum deals with a broad and complicated topic, it is organized into various sections and sub-sections. Please start threads in the appropriate area, and check to see if there is already an active thread on the topic before starting a new one. The Mods will move and merge topics that are misplaced or redundant.
. Keep in-mind that, if you're foolish enough to do something dangerous, illegal, or stupid based on something somebody posted on an Internet forum, you are doing so at your own risk. May Natural Selection have mercy upon you!
. Ad hominem attacks, flaming, etc. will usually be split-off to the Colosseum where these activities can be enjoyed by those who find such things entertaining, and ignored by everyone else. However, revealing personal information about any member to expose them to potential consequences in meatspace will result in immediate deletion, banning, and whatever else we can think of.
