Peroxide

I received this as an email. Thought it was interesting, and very useful and inexpensive, if true. I haven't tested the statements. Has anyone?

Clorox/Bleac vs Peroxide (3%)
Bleach was invented in the late 40's? It's chlorine. Peroxide was invented during WWI in the 20's. It was used to save and help cleanse troops and hospitals.
Think about this:
1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) of peroxide and hold it in your mouth for one minute daily, then spit it out.
No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes or whiteners. Use it instead of mouthwash.

2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.

3. Clean your counters and tabletops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters..

4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

5. For foot fungus spray a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for 5-10 minutes several times a day. Gangrene has been healed by soaking in peroxide.

7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water, and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system, like bleach or most other disinfectants will.

8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold or plugged up sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue..

9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for 10 minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the bleach-burnt blond hair like the hair dye packages but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blond. It also lightens gradually, so it's not a drastic change. [Post-Collapse beauty remedies...hhhaa]

11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help get rid of boils, fungus, or other skin infections.

12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

13. Use peroxide to clean mirrors. There is no smearing.

14. Another place it's great is in the bathroom, if someone has been careless & has peed on the floor around the toilet & it's begun to smell of urine. Just put some peroxide in a spray bottle & spray. In the blink of an eye all the smell will be gone & the bacteria eliminated!

Re: Peroxide

Before antibiotics it was used to treat almost everything.I believe that it was even injected into the bloodstream to treat some ailments. But then antibiotics came along and peroxide was abandoned. Most doctors today have never heard of the medical uses of peroxide, and those who have discount it.In times to come it might make a comeback.

Re: Peroxide

There are different types of peroxide, there is the kind you use to clean and dissinfect and there is medical grade peroxide.Don't confuse the two or you'll be sorry.

Re: Peroxide

...i also remember something about H2O2 not being so stable for long-term storage... Like if i leave it long enough, i open the botlle and oxygen is let go... eventually i got diluted peroxide at best... at worst, i got water with a few peroxide molecules.

help me out... correct me...(if i'm wrong).

Re: Peroxide

fyi.. there's 'food grade' peroxide(H2O2) and the 3%-6% non food grade stuff you buy
at the drug/grocery/hair product stores and it's that stuff that is not for use around
food and never to be taken 'internally' no matter how much you dilute it..

'food grade' can be bought in person at hydroponic stores where
it comes at a high concentration that maxes out at 29% to 35%..
store it (I keep a quart in my freezer) and handle it very carefully
and I dilute it with distilled water to 3 or 6% as I need it (use gloves)
my quart of 35% makes 12 quarts of 3% and it cost about me $15.00..
mine has been in the freezer over two years and it's still fully potent..

note: 35% stuff burns on contact turning your skin white even if washed off immediately..
