North Texas Dooming: Anybody?

I am going to post this on all the boards. Basically, my lady and I are very interested in purchasing a small farmhouse in Fannin County, Texas, and I wanted to know if any members were already in the area (south eastern, OK included.)

We love the house and the land, it's in our price range, it has a well, fencing, and other necessaries already in place. The lady worries we will have a hard time making friends, so I wanted to know if we'd have any potential contacts already nearby.

how deep is the well to water?
I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love,
For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.

Hi there Dignity, welding-rod here. We have a wonderful little 30 acre doomstead out about 20 mile south of Corsicana. We been here about 5 years and are almost self sufficient and independent. Looking to get completely off the grid sometime next year or so.

You should bring the little lady over for a visit. Easy to make friends around here. She will feel completely different after a tour of this place. A few other doomer families in the area also, they just don't frequent the website.

Feel free to contact me privately if you like. Let me know if there is any way that we could help.

Best wishes and good luck with your purchase. welding-rod

Aint THAT the truth?

=========================

back towards the OP --

Not so much North Texas Dooming, but rather North Texas Doing. Just feels better and seems to make more sense.

DoS -- when you start towards settling in or before, if you want get a hold of me if you need some tips, pointers, hardware, whatever, as far as energy production type stuff goes -- solar, wind, solar thermal, etc. We are doing a LOT of residential and commercial stuff, but I also have the long leash to do more Doomerish-off-grider type stuff, and could use some test-sites and test-drivers.

btw, Welcome to the neighborhood.

Last pass offer on deals on renewables.

The .gov stimulus cash grants close out before the end of the year on renewable equipment.

Does not matter much to me personally, we are booked out into next year, but if anyone wants the low cost equipment deals, after the stimulus program shuts down the deals will be gone.
