Has anyone ever had experience with marek's disease with their chickens? My flock became infected and had to be destroyed which was very upsetting to say the least. I had purchased them as chicks from a small farm rather than a larger hatchery as the larger nearby hatcheries didn't carry the breed we wanted (Orpington's) and they were not vaccinated against this as chicks. I'm not sure how they became infected as there's been no other poultry come into our yard unless they were carrying the disease from day one. Any insight on preventing this in the future would be much appreciated!
