My understanding is that one of our solar monitoring satellites (STEREO) was tracking a recent coronal mass ejection as it swept past Mercury (not the sun) and as the blast wave went past, it seemed to reveal something 'else' sitting there between Mercury and the sun. Who knows what it was, it certainly is not perfectly saucer shaped or anything, looks more like a flying H to me... it could be any number of non 'alien-battleship' things, from a dense cloud of gases that ionized and glowed when hit by the storm, to a large asteroid or comet fragment we don't know about yet.

I wouldn't sound the RED ALERT klaxon and man the ground-based anti-UFO lasers just yet
