Cars Without Drivers: Get Ready to See Automated Automobiles on the Open Road

this will be so weird!

Next on the chopping block: the need for human drivers.

Google is behind this development. For years, they've been developing the technology to make automated cars a reality. They've also spearheaded lobbying efforts in Nevada, which just became the first state to approve regulations for testing driverless cars. This gives technology companies an official procedure for taking their self-driven automobiles out on public roads.

Now, companies must pay the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles anywhere from $1 million to $3 million in order to test driverless vehicles. They must specify exactly where they plan to run these tests, and show that their cars will be capable of handling those environments. And unless otherwise specified by the Department, there must always be two occupants in the vehicle; one must be in a position to take control on case of an emergency. The state released a full set of regulations on their website.

California --

So, what, we're just supposed to sit in those things and read the paper with a cup of coffee while it takes us into the city?

I'm heading to the mountains when cars and people start doing this. That's my cue. Exit... stage higher ground. See y'all later, alligator. :D

Just wait till the first time automatic controls fail, resulting in a huge chain reaction on the freeway.

Weren't similar gripes raised 80 years ago when autopilot was introduced in commercial aircraft? Or when automobiles were first manufactured to attain speeds of over 50mph?

Nothing short of amazing. Not the ability of TPTB to get such an article written through one of their many mouthpieces of propaganda, but to be able to swing the market in such a way that such an obviously incorrect price response would exist in these times of trial, trouble, war and collapse!!

Thank you for the example of how we must all diligently ignore these fake signs of abundance, cowering instead in our homes and yurts, waiting for the sky to fall. Admittedly, it has been falling for a long time, and it is disheartening that the symptoms are so difficult to see except for us wise and canny few, but certainly the end is coming.

We even have our own TV show now, a most excellent validation of our viewpoint, and much more positive proof of how right we are then any little factoids on the abundance of fuels to generate electricity.
