The LDS Preparedness Manual
This helpful manual is a whopping 222 page book that is a collection of articles compiled in a single pdf document. The first few pages are religious in nature, but there is so much great information included that the religious information is easy to ignore, if you wish. Click here to download.
The U.S. Air Force Survival Training manual
The second download that I’m very excited to include is the official U.S. Air Force Survival Training manual. I have copies of several military survival books, but Erich over at Tactical Intelligence has some reasons why this particular manual may be the best choice. He says,
The Air Force Survival Training manual (specifically the AFR-64) is, in my opinion, the cream of the crop. In fact, many of the numerous commercial and military books and manuals are based off of this manual (much of which which is copied verbatim — both the words and text!). I feel it is much better than the Army Survival Manual (FM 3-05.70) and even has a slight edge over Wiseman’s SAS Survival Handbook (which is also excellent).
This monster of a download is 580 pages, and it may take a few minutes to download your copy, but it covers everything from identifying poisonous spiders to setting traps for wildlife. I think older kids would really get a kick out of reading this. It might even be more exciting than The Dangerous Book for Boys!
Where There is no Doctor
What did people do before there was an Urgent Care center on nearly every street corner and a doctor was only a phone call away? I’ll tell you what they did. They made do with home remedies, herbal medicines, and mustard packs. Where There is no Doctor is available on Amazon, and I recommend buying a hard copy if you like it, but the download is free and will at least give you a chance to preview it and print out what is most important. It’s a fascinating book, and medical skills and knowledge are sure to come in handy in a future or location where high quality medical care may not be available.
Where There is no Dentist
I’ll never forget having an awful dental problem when I was seven months pregnant with my daughter. Naturally, it happened over a weekend, and if my husband would have had a good pair of pliers, I would have begged him to pull that darn tooth! NEXT TIME, we’ll have our copy of Where There is no Dentist! You can download this 240 page freebie here.
I’ve uploaded these manuals at the Mediafire site, which hosts my other downloads. Mediafire is actually an annoying site with all the ads, and I apologize for that, but it does its job of providing free hosting for documents such as this.
If you love these manuals, consider purchasing a hard copy to keep around the house or in a bug out bag. I’m all for electronic and digital goodies, but if the lights ever go out, these online manuals will be of no use.
