DPMS Panther, opinions?

16", 223, collapsible stock, two mags, sling, decent looking rail, optics (but I forget the exact type) $1195 second hand.

I should probably go back and get the exact optic type, those things can range from cheap to outrageous.

For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.

Yeah, that one looks like it has optics, but the price difference between good optics and mediocre alone can cover the difference. The one I was looking at also has some kind of extra magazine holder attached to the bottom of the rail, acts like both a handgrip as well as a spare magazine. That can't be worth more than a bill or two in terms of difference though.

Don't forget to check for wear, bore, gas rings/seals on bolt etc. For the amount asked optics should be good midle of road quality and new is close in price. Check out Lauer Custom Weapons.

If the optics are good name-brand like Aimpoint, EoTech, or Trijicon ACOG, then it's a good deal or even a bargain. Otherwise, not so much. Don't believe DPMS is one of the top-rated manufacturers.
