- Good insurance. (Good thing this happened now, while there still is such a thing.)

- I just HATE being on a respirator tube, and catheters even worse. Needles, blades, even having someone poke around in my eye, I find only mildly troubling.

- Last time I had eye surgery, it didn't involve any of that. But that was just routine intralasik.

It is what it is. I hope you go for the route of getting it taken care of. That's my un-solicited advice (I hate unsolicited advice, usually, except for when I need it. hhhaaa). I hate doctors. I just started going to get all checked out for the first time this summer in 8 years!! Still waiting on the pap test results...eeek... I hope I'm OK (maybe this should be the women's thread info?) but maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Good karma. Maybe go get the good old eye all fixed up now, and if that procedure goes sideways we can all pitch in and ask Templar to design a really cool "OldHorseman is watching you" eyepatch, as a backup plan?

- I was worried that I'd put it off too long. Medicos couldn't believe I'd ignored going blind in one eye for nearly a week... I originally figured it was just a popped blood vessel or the onset of conjunctivitis... When you've been through as much as I have over the years, anything that doesn't involve protruding bones, pulse-spurting crimson, or at least the inability to breathe, doesn't really warrant a "red alert". :|

- But I guess, the way my retina has mostly bubbled-out in the middle, it's not that urgent. Doc scheduled me for surgery in a few days. They don't put people completely under for this, usually... On the one hand, kinda' wish they would... Who wants to be awake to experience someone turning your goddamned eyeball around backwards to much-about with it?! On the other, it means there'll be none of that "ramming tubes in all kinds of places where there ought not to be tubes rammed" stuff they like to do to a person before full anesthesia.

- I had ten lifetimes worth of that nonsense when my heart and lungs decided to go on the fritz a while back.

- And so this is how I spent part of Monday...

- Fully awake the whole time... Was really miserable last night.

- Patch came off this morning. Looks like I fell out of the top of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down, then got tangled-up in the roots. The contents of the left socket are high-test nightmare fuel. They say the vision will slowly come back over the next couple of weeks.

Well when the vision returns, I hope it was all worth it!

Best recovery to you, OldHorseman :!:

- So, getting ready to go back in for another eye surgery. Seems that, while the retina re-attachment worked, I wound up with a colony of chondrocytes causing a "pucker" over the macula... So, after recovering for a while after the first surgery, the vision in that eye has been going downhill fast since.

- I think they actually just stick an eggbeater in the socket and puree the freakin' eyeball, hoping that it'll heal back better than it was.

- If all goes "well", I'll still need another surgery in a month or so to fix the cataract and nearsightedness that are results of the first two surgeries. Sheeh.

- I just want to get this all wrapped-up ASAP... Would like to enjoy the Apocalypse with both eyes open!'
