Armalite 223

Many years ago, you went and acquired an AR15 and were done with it. Nowadays it seems like there are all types of receivers and parts and pieces and add ons and whatnot. Any specific recommendations? Had planned on acquiring a M4 22LR replica for starters and child training, with perhaps a CX4 to go along with the Glock, but ran into a Armalite 223 with plenty of extras at a good price. Good, bad, mediocre?

Pretty nice zombie buster seems like.

Re: Armalite 223

Sure. 223 is (just) 223 at the end of the day, and there are plenty of options.

They make AK's, Mini-14s, Armalite, as you noted, and I think I recall the Daewoo variety was among the better shooters I have played with.

All seem fine by me, and probably the M-16/AR-15 styles are my least favored.

Re: Armalite 223

It's pretty much as cost-effective to get a .22 LR upper for an AR-15 as it is to get a dedicated AR-15-like gun. Actually if you're savvy you can get a cheap lower receiver and .22 upper for the price of a .22 rifle.

There are definite differences in quality with the various parts, but I don't know enough about the various brands to say what's better than what.

Just remember ABCD, Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt , DPMS as just four of better built AR's. .223 is a fine caliber for most small/mid size game. Just remember to use ammo with good expansion and wt. retention with correct shot placement.

Sounds good everyone. Am currently arm wrestling the owner at the $800 level, I tried pitching him a 6 and he didn't go for it.
